Eugene Luther Gore Vidal (3 Ekim 1925 - 31 Temmuz 2012), Amerikalı romancı, oyun yazarı, deneme yazarı, senarist ve siyasi aktivist. Romanları ve denemeleriyle, Amerikan yaşamına yön verdiğini düşündüğü sosyal ve kültürel cinsel normları sorgulayan Vidal, eşcinselliği açıkça konu eden ilk büyük Amerikan romanlarından biri olaran Kent ve Tuz (The City and the Pillar, 1948) adlı üçüncü romanıyla ana akım eleştirmenlerin tepkisini toplamıştır. Vidal, edebiyatın ötesinde siyasetle de yoğun bir şekilde ilgilendi. İlk olarak 1960'ta ABD Temsilciler Meclisinde (New York için) ve daha sonra 1982'de ABD Senatosu'nda (Kaliforniya için) olmak üzere iki kez Demokrat Parti adayı olarak seçimlere katıldı ancak ikisinde de başarısız oldu.
